Domain Name Auction Services:

SnapNamesLogo

SnapNames, a member of the Oversee.net family of companies, was formed in 2000 to provide the first commercially available technology for "back-ordering" a currently registered domain name. This pioneering service helped customers gain access to domain names that were thought to be forever out of reach. In reality, most domain names cycle back into the market at some point in time, though without specialized help, most people are unable to find or buy them.

Today, SnapNames acquires and offers by auction the majority of expired domain names from each of the major top-level domains. More than 100 million names worldwide expire and delete each year, giving SnapNames customers access to literally millions of domain names the moment they come back on the market.

More info on SnapNames.com Here. Info provided above from About Us page on SnapNames.com .

Godaddy.com

Godaddy offers it's own auction service that was previously call TDNAM.com but is now called Godaddy Auctions and can be found at auctions.godaddy.com . Godaddy offers "Member Listed" domain names as well as it's own expired domain names at auction. Normal auctions start at $10. Domain names that do not get bid's during it's normal auction can drop down to a $5 Buy It Now, if no bids or backorders were in place for a specific domain name.

NameJet.com

NameJet is a newer auction service formed when a partnership ended between NetworkSolutions.com and SnapNames. NameJet.com get's a great deal of "premium" expired domain names from NSI, but many go for top dollar as well. A lot of large companies and end users are bidding on domains at this auction service, so pull out your wallet if you plan on bidding on expired domain names at NameJet. I don't even bid very often at this service.

Pool.com

Pool is partnered with several smaller registrars but does offer an auction service for Member Listed domain names but is a bigger player in the PendingDelete type domain names.

Afternic.com

Afternic is a large player in the domain name industry but they mainly focus on End User sales with the 800,000 + domain names they own themself. They also offer Member Listed domain names that total up to over 3 Million domains listed. Afternic offers a small auction service that mainly has under 30 domain names listed at one time. These include some expired domain names and a mix of member listed domains that have been sent to auction by the seller.
